Fusion energy is represented at the COP because fusion is set to be the a key solution to the deep decarbonization that will be required to get to full Net Zero by 2050.

The first fusion event took place as a side event on November 4, featuring Dr. Aneeqa Khan, professor at the University of Manchester and Sabina Griffith, a staff member of the ITER project. They then go around the world to hear from the International Atomic Energy Agency and nationally-funded global fusion projects in Japan, China, South Korea, Germany, and the UK, as well as with FIA members Commonwealth Fusion Systems and General Fusion.

On Friday, November 12, the UKAEA hosted an event in the “Blue Zone” at COP with featured speakers from around the world, titled ‘Looking to the future with fusion energy.’ The event took place on November 12 at 11.30am – 12.30pm (GMT). Watch the video below, presented by the UKAEA.
